Grandma Mista is the oldest cat by far I’ve ever met, and still working to boot. She is 22 years old, but has only been working for just six months at a Greenpoint shop of faux and vrai antiques . Besides being the poster child…er…cat for social security reform, she seems very happy for a senior citizen still punching a time clock. She’s very affable though. In my experience my Grandmother’s cat, who lived till she was 19 wanted nothing to do with people. She would just sit under the bed and sleep, and sneak out for food every once in awhile. Maybe she was arthritic maybe anti-social but I learned my lesson early on don’t mess with Grandma’s old kitty. Mista on the other hand will greet customers. She even purrs and leans her frail body into an out-stretched hand en route to pet her. Mostly, though, she takes refuge in a blanket that nearly camouflages her completely. I thought the blanket had come alive, when I saw her emerge out of its folds for the first time.
