90s music Monday: Pearl Jam "Alive" [updated]
I saw this video when it premiered on Headbanger's Ball in fall '91. Actually I watched the first minute, decided it was boring and changed the channel. I was moderately interested in Pearl Jam since I knew that they were rising from the ashes of Mother Love Bone, but on first listen I didn't like them as much as Nirvana or Soundgarden, so I was somewhat underwhelmed. Later though, I bought the cassette of "Ten" at Tower Records in Mountain View (with bonus cassingle and Fan Club 45) and got into them in a big way.
Actually, this is the video I wanted, not the clip above, which was from Saturday Night Live.
You have to go to YouTube to watch it though, thus defeating the whole purpose of embedding.

I think it's hilarious that your room-mate preferred the video over the CD--but perhaps there was additional value provided by it. I am told by reliable sources that Pearl Jam are hotter than your average rock and roll band.
One question, though--who is the woman who introduces PJ in the SNL clip? I vaguely recognize her, but can't place the face.
I think all they pretty much said was that the video was recorded at an actual show in Seattle.
The video was recorded at the Moore Theater in Seattle, which is basically the Emerald City's equivalent of the Warfield.
