I'm not sure why, but Elektra loves the recycling basket in the
office. Every so often she climbs in it and hangs for a while. None
of the other cats show it the slightest interest.
I was looking through some old pictures last night for a good belly shot, and was reminded of when Max loved the laundry basket, the shoe box... Now, not so much.
I do wonder what drives them. I mean if it's always there, why does it call out to them on some days but not others?
Maybe she likes it *because* the other cats aren't interested in it. She can get away from all of them in there. She looks very happy!
Ulysses likes hanging out in laundry baskets; the second I bring them out to do laundry, he jumps in. It's even better if there's a pile of warm laundry to nap on but it's not a requirement; an empty basket is just fine.
I think you may be right. I feel bad for Elektra because I deprived her of her favorite sleeping spot-a large framed poster-size package I was leaning against the wall in the front hall. For about two weeks she slept nowhere else. I finally moved up into the office, and since then Elektra hasn't really found a good default sleeping spot that she doesn't have to share. She likes sleeping on the newspaper stack in the kitchen, but Alcina also likes that spot.
I wish I had a celphone that takes video because last night when I got home all of the lady cats were trying to eat at once, but there were only two bowls, so they kept bumping each other's heads out of the way. It was a very interesting look at feline dominance assertion.
