It's 1989 all over again
In August 1989 I, along with everyone else in Santa Cruz, was awoken from a sound sleep by a brief, sharp temblor in the early morning. I told people I thought it was a foreshock, a harbinger of the Big One, As it turned out, I was right.
Now I read this in the Chronicle about the quake this morning on the Hayward Fault:
It's possible that the trembler was a foreshock that could be followed by stronger seismic events, said Catchings.
"To be very honest, we can't tell, but we do look at that kind of thing and it's not unheard of for something like this to be followed by something larger," he said.
And this time we don't even have the consolation fo the As and Giants both being good.
