QotD: Happy President's Day!

Ever run for office?  (School, club, organization, politics, etc.)  Did you get elected?

No one in my family has run for anything since my great-grandather ran for mayor of Victoria. British Columbia, insulted someone during a debate, got sued for libel, lost, and had to quit the race in disgrace. Since then we've preferred to work behind the scenes, influencing those in power, instead of wielding power ourselves.

He was. I thought about mentioning that but then decided it would dilute the impact of the post.
