This is one of the funniest songs from "Walk Hard." Jenna Fischer is a gifted comic actress--though she tried to do the actual singing, as it turned out, they had to over-dub another singer. Still a great performance, and it totally looks like she's actually singing.
Have you bought any concert tickets this year? What shows will you be going to?
Just last weekend I finally dealt and bought tickets to the following shows:
* Drive-By Truckers at the Mezzanine 2/14
* Built To Spill @ the Fillmore (can't remember the date)
* Mountain Goats at the Bottom of the Hill (3/2) This will be an all-ages afternoon show, which should be interesting. I believe it's part of Noise Pop.
What was your reaction to the results of the Iowa caucuses?
Complete and utter indifference. I am increasingly of the opinion that we should do what many European countries have done and limit campaigning to the three weeks preceding the date of the election.
What albums have you had to buy more than once, either because you wore them out or lost them?
I think Talking Heads "Speaking In Tongues" takes the prize for me--I've purchased in four times. On cassette fall quarter freshman year UCSC, in vinyl later that year, then on CD during Dotcom 1.0 and finally, the remastered HDCD edition that came out in 2006 (highly recommended btw.)
What's the best late-night TV talk show?
God only knows. Is "Late Night with David Letterman" still on? I used to watch that freshman year of college. Speaking of which, Larry "Bud" Melman just died, which is sad.
What are your predictions for the World Series?
Red Sox in 7. I also predict the home team will win every game, and there will be at least one extra-inning game ended by a walk-off home run.
Radiohead release their seventh studio album today and it's only available online and you set your own price. Will you buy the album? Do you buy the idea?
I will buy the album, and I do buy the idea. Basically, Radiohead are pre-emptively leaking the album, and just seeing how much money they can get for it. I think they wil find that it's a substantial amount. As Ben and Mena Trott discovered in 2001, people are basicaly honest and, if they have the money, and see real value in something, they will pay for it.
